Breeding: how to get the pal you want

Two questions, and the second one matters more: you know who you have, and you want a particular pal. Nothing here is invented - the ranks come out of the game files and the rule is worked out from them, and where the files stay silent, so does this page.

    Of the paldeck species 260 take part in breeding and 28 are excluded by the game itself. The exception table holds 258 rows, and 18 of the pals it names are outside the paldeck: no pair produces them by the general rule.
